The most useful information for Dr. Barnum to know is the surgical/trauma histories, and what symptoms/conditions you feel.

When you think trauma, think about anything that your nervous system may have perceived as a significant shock to your body at any point in your life. Every single person has had trauma. When we say “the body keeps the score”, it means the subconscious brain can hold trauma memory in physical locations, even when the conscious brain wants to let go of it. Think of it as a protective mechanism from the primitive brain.

Imagine a body scanner running head-to-toe or toe-to-head; think about your traumas at each physical site (scars, emotional trauma at a site, hard hits, cuts, burns, infections, piercings, sensitive/numb spots, dental work, etc) & when they occurred. Any information you can provide helps us get to your root cause(s) quicker!

Please note that some trauma spots may come with memories/feelings of anger/sadness/fear/guilt/shame, and that is perfectly healthy to acknowledge…and could be a massive clue. For example, if you had a life-altering injury that negatively impacted you, this could be a great starting point for us with treatment.

Remember: pain is not always coming from where you think it might be! Your stories help Dr. Barnum think outside the box with you.

  • We recommend that you eat a well-balanced meal and adequately hydrate, but please do not overdo it. Gym clothes work well for visits. We also have patient gowns available if needed.

Some people like to exercise/walk before visits to already be loosened and amplify certain treatments.

Most neural therapy injections are done very superficially with minimal bleeding. Dr. Barnum can apply gauze pads over the treatment site, but some patients prefer to wear red or black clothing to avoid any minor risk of staining light-colored clothing.

  • During initial visits, Dr. Barnum discusses the patient history/ info given in the intake forms and takes the time to know individuals at a deeper level. New patients can expect a custom treatment plan tailored to their needs. Patients will be treated with OMT during the initial visit, with the option of adding neural therapy if needed.

During follow-up visits, we will pick right up where we left off. Dr. Barnum asks for feedback after each treatment to help guide the next steps in the treatment. He will help you determine which sites should be treated next each visit. *Patients can book OMT-only follow-up visits or Hybrid follow-up visits.

During OMT-only visits, you can expect various types of manual treatments such as Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), cupping, Normatec Compressions, stretching and Graston technique.

During hybrid visits, you will receive a combination of neural therapy injections and manual treatment (same as OMT-only visits, with the addition of neural therapy injections).

(: You can except lots of holistic education and biohacking tips during any of your visits! :)

  • Depending on how long you have had the symptom(s), outcomes may vary. While some may notice instant change, others may experience soreness as their bodies are flushing toxins/lactic acid buildup through the lymphatic system. Each visit is driven by your feedback. The goal is to compare to what you have not been able to do because of the condition(s). If one approach does not make a significant change, we will approach it from a new angle.

No two patients have the exact same treatment approach, because no two people have had the exact same injury/trauma/surgical history!

    * Similar to post-massage therapy, be sure to hydrate especially well in the first 1-2 days post-treatment. *

Movement is encouraged after each visit to facilitate better blood flow/lymphatic drainage (e.g., walking 20 minutes/day); however, do not “push through” any activity causing pain.

  • No, we do not take any insurance or provide codes for insurance reimbursement.

Given that insurance has its limitations, especially with more holistic approaches, we have decided to opt out of insurance all together. This enables us to spend 3-4 times longer with each patient and provide high-quality care.

However, we recommend patients to have a Primary Care Provider who takes insurance for annual physical exams, screening tests, routine lab work, and prescription medication management.

  • We require a major credit or debit card on file to book an appointment. We do not charge until the time of your visit, so you may change your payment method that day if needed.

Other accepted forms of payment include:

    • Contactless payments (such as Apple Pay, Google Pay & Samsung Pay)

    • Zelle transactions (sent via bank mobile app to heal@karmaosteopathic.com).

    • Checks

    • Physical Cash

**Keep in mind, there is an additional service fee (2.95%) with any card/contactless payment transactions. To avoid the additional service fee, you can pay via Zelle, checks or physical cash.**

*We do NOT offer change, so please bring the exact cash amount if you choose to pay with physical cash.

*We do NOT take Venmo, Cash App or PayPal.

  • You will be charged a service fee of 2.95% for any card transactions (including credit cards, debit cards or contactless payments).

    For example:

    • If a patient pays for their OMT-only follow-up visit with their credit card (on file or in person), their total will be $200 + $5.90 for a total of $205.90.

*** Take note:There is no processing fee for paymentsvia Zelle, check, or physical cash. For example, a patient paying for an OMT-only visit with cash instead of a card will owe a total of $200 instead of $205.90.

  • The pricing will remain the same regardless of when you arrive. We understand that life happens, but we want to respect each patient’s time and not cut into other appointment slots.

*However, Dr. Barnum will not perform any neural therapy procedures past the 30-minute (late) mark. Neural therapy especially requires adequate time, with each case varying due to complexity, location, size, age, trauma, the thickness of the tissue, and the patient’s pain tolerance. Regardless, patients will still be able to get OMT during the remaining time in their visit.

  • We do not refund any no-shows. In the chance of a no-show, we will charge your card on file in full at the time of your appointment. If you need to cancel your appointment, we require a 1 business day notice.

Please call the office for any cancellation or rescheduling requests during business hours: Tuesday-Friday, 10am-6pm EST & Saturday, 12pm-6pm EST. *Call: 941-529-6750

*For any Tuesday appointments, you must call by the Saturday prior (1 business day) in advance, so that we may fill this slot.

  • No, we do not offer this style of service since every case is different. Some patients may need fewer visits than others to feel and see improvements in their health. Dr. Barnum’s goal is to decrease the frequency of visits as your symptoms continue to improve.
